Christmas Storage Ideas For Christmas Tree, Ornaments and Decorations

Ah, Christmas with family was wonderful and full of laughter and good eats! But once it’s over, you’re left to deal with the dreaded task of taking down the tree, packing away the ornaments and storing away the decorations.

How you store your Christmas items is important because you want your decorations to be in tiptop shape for the next holiday. There is a right and a wrong way to put your things away, but by sticking to the following rules, you can make sure your Christmas goodies will safely make it to be used another year.

Holiday Storage Boxes

Rule #1: If you’re putting away cloth – such as tablecloths and napkins, towels or rugs don’t place them in a cardboard box. If you usually store your seasonal decorations in your attic and there’s a leak, these items will get damaged by the wetness. You could end up with a box full of mildewed linens that have to be tossed into the garbage. Instead of cardboard boxes, store these materials in an airtight plastic container with a tight snap on lid.

Rule #2: If you’re saving your Christmas wreaths, buy the Christmas wreath storage containers that are specifically made for wreaths. It keeps them nice and safe.

Rule #3: Christmas wrapping paper will do well in the tube containers made especially for this purpose. It’ll keep the paper from unraveling and the ends from splitting and tearing.

Rule #4: Before packing away the Christmas lights, always check each strand to make sure all the bulbs light up. Then wrap the lights in strands, secure them in place with twist ties and store the lights in small plastic containers that you can place down inside larger containers.

Rule #5: Wrap all ornaments in bubble wrap to keep them from getting nicked then place them in Christmas ornament storage boxes. Also, wrap all Christmas candles in bubble wrap before packing them away in plastic storage containers.
