A Healthy Pantry-Part 3
Having pasta and rice on hand is essential. There are so many different pastas to choose from-it’s hard to pick one. You can make a shrimp dish with linguine or a hearty lasagne, or some mac and cheese with broccoli. I like to cook with whole grain rice because of the hearty flavor. My family has gotten used to it and the extra fiber is welcome. Wild rice and basmati is also great to have on hand. Dried beans are a great source of protein and is easy on the checkbook. Try pinto, white, navy, kidney and black beans. My family likes to eat pinto beans cooked in a slow cooker with cornbread.
