Three Simple Steps to Great Health
Healthy eating will make you feel great and give you the energy you need to get through your day. Eating whole natural foods will provide your body with the minerals, antioxidants and vitamins it needs to fight diseases and protect against aging. Eating healthy is not as hard as you think and the benefits are many. Listed below are three simple steps to start you on your way to healthy eating:
1. Always eat breakfast-A good breakfast will start your day off right and sets the tone for the remainder of your day. Smoothies are a favorite that can be made quickly and tastes delicious. Blend together a banana, berries, nuts, orange juice and some yogurt for a yummy and healthy start to your day. Try your hand at whipping up some homemade buttermilk biscuits made with whole wheat flour. Serve these warm with local honey and fresh fruit and your family will love you.
2. Whenever possible, eat fresh-Fill your fridge with the freshest produce you can find because it is loaded with all that is good for you. Shop at your local farmers market if possible. You will be guaranteed the freshest produce available and you will be supporting your local farmers.
3. Watch your snacking-This is a hard one for most families, especially mine. Swap the chips and candy for homemade trail mix, fresh fruits and nuts. Try natural peanut butter on whole wheat bread or homemade oatmeal cookies made with whole wheat flour.
