How To Determine What You Want In Life

What do you really want in life? Most people don’t discover what they want in life until it’s time to die – and that’s a shame. Most people spend the best years of their lives watching television or doing things they dislike. An author described humanity by saying, “Most people die at twenty and are buried at eighty.” Are you one of the living zombies?

What do you really want in life? Some people struggle in answering such question. When asked what they want or what their goals in life are, many are unsure. They dillydally in their decision, hardly giving any thought about what they want in life. People without definite goals are letting time pass them by. Are you one of these people?

If you are undecided about what you want out of life, do not worry.  There are many ways of discovering your purpose in life. To discover what you want in life, try looking deep into your heart. Oftentimes, people are ruled by logic. People live by what they think they should be or by what others like them to be. The discovery process is the perfect time to listen to your heart. What your heart desires comes from the whispers of your authentic self. Your authentic self is the real you.

Listen to your heart to be able to listen to your authentic self. What your heart says usually feels right. What your heart desires is what you usually love to do and this represents your passion. Anything done with passion is like play where the task is accomplished without hesitation. You pour out your very best and feel no pressure or resistance.

You will totally enjoy doing things that are your passion. Setbacks, difficulties, and obstacles will make it more challenging, but should not deter you from pursuing your goals. Naturally, there may be barriers that may prevent you from reaching your goal, but your heart’s desire will find ways to overcome these barriers so that you may ultimately get what you want in life. Remember this: the universe supports people who are pursuing their passion and those who are pursuing their destiny.

However, this does not mean that you don’t use your head. People are born with both the mind and heart. Your duty is to live your best life and be in harmony with your mind and heart. The poet Rumi wisely said, “Live completely in the head and you cannot feel the breath and rhythm of life. Live completely in the heart and you may find yourself acting like a love-struck fool with poor judgment and discipline. It’s all a fine balance - the head and heart must forge a lifetime partnership if one wants to live a beautiful life.”

Listen to your instinct. Part of human nature is the mysterious and spontaneous reaction on things. Often times, these are called instincts. Your authentic self communicates with you and guides you via instincts. Instincts are those gentle nudges that urge you to act and follow a certain path. Your role then is to listen attentively.

Often times, we listen to what others say and allow them to run our lives. Parents often do this to their children. “We come from a family of doctors, so my son must also be a doctor.” How often do we hear this from parents who have good intentions for their children? Parents unconsciously block the true expression of their child’s real self and calling. Friends and critics will discourage you and point out the impossibility of your dream. Before heeding their advice, evaluate the accomplishments of the critics. Did they achieve theirs dreams? Do they dream big at all?

Remember, it is your destiny that is in line, not theirs. It doesn’t mean, though, that you will not listen to what other people say. Hear them out just the same. But the final decision should be yours. There is only thing to remember: Every person, to live truly and greatly, must define how he wants to live and what his brightest life will look like.  Listen to your instincts and follow your heart’s desire. You will never go wrong.

Self Esteem Help With 3 Simple Tips

Self Esteem Help With 3 Simple Tips
By Jason Osborn

Self esteem help is much easier then you think. Everyday you have the opportunity to let your self esteem be high or low. Of course there are some simple things that will help you increase your self esteem. Here is some self esteem help with 3 simple tips.

1. Don’t let your words be your worst enemy.

Self esteem help start with you. If you are always running yourself down then it’s no wonder why you may have a low self esteem. There are plenty of other things out there that are trying to bring your self esteem down, don’t let you be the main cause of it. For instance, what kind of things do you tell yourself? Do you tell yourself negative stuff on a regular basis? This is the first thing that you need to change to help improve your self esteem. Talk to yourself right and you will see yourself right.

2. Protect yourself from negative people.

Are your friends really your friends? This is a very important question that you need to answer. If the people you call your friends are constantly running you down and telling you negative things, these people aren’t your friends at all. One of the fastest ways to help your self esteem to improve is to hang out with people that will build you up instead of making you feel bad about yourself. You deserve to be friends with people that actually care about you.

3. Believe in yourself.

This is not always easy but it’s very simple. You are here for a purpose and don’t let yourself doubt that. Once you start believing in yourself your self esteem help grow by leaps and bounds. You don’t have to start believing in yourself in every area but just start somewhere. Start with something small. The more you believe in yourself in one area the more you start to believe in yourself in other areas.

7 Tips For Improving Self Confidence

7 Tips For Improving Self Confidence
By Trevor Johnson

Even the most outwardly confident person has times when they would appreciate more self confidence. For the rest of us mere mortals, here are some helpful tips for improving self confidence.

1. Stop putting yourself down

We all have an inner voice. You know, the one that nags you incessantly if you get the slightest thing wrong. You wouldn’t let anyone else talk to you in that tone of voice, so don’t let yourself do it either! This takes a little practice but the essence is that every time you hear yourself criticizing you, tell that voice to go away (your choice on how polite you are when you do this!)

2. Play to your strengths

You’re good at quite a lot of things if you think about it. Play to these strengths. Do more of the things you’re good at. You’ll find your confidence improving as you become more successful at these. Success breeds success, so it will spill over into other areas of your life.

3. Stop being so negative!

Cut down on your intake of negative things. Turn off the news. Don’t read a newspaper. These two can be scary but other people will tell you if anything actually important hits the news. Don’t be negative about yourself either - stop saying that you’ll never be any good at whatever it is. As far as possible, don’t let others be negative about you either.

4. Set achievable goals

Set them out step by step. You wouldn’t climb a whole mountain in one giant leap. Split your goals into “bite sized chunks” so that you are constantly achieving something towards your goals. The regular sense of achievement will start boosting your confidence.

5. Remember a positive event

Go back to when you were more confident - it doesn’t matter when particularly. Remember what you felt like. See yourself being confident and calm and collected. Make this image larger and more colorful. Add in the sounds that were there when you were feeling so full of confidence. Then “anchor” that feeling - maybe touch your left earlobe, maybe pinch your thumb and middle finger together, whatever you can use to easily “anchor” the feeling. Repeat this a few times and you’ll find that the simple firing of your trigger will bring back these warm, happy, confident feelings.

6. Be yourself

You are who you are. Over time, you can use various self improvement techniques to work on yourself and improve things you want to change. But accept yourself as you are - you’ll actually find you’re probably quite likeable “as is”.

7. Celebrate failure

You didn’t learn to walk the first time you wobbled onto two feet. You probably weren’t a natural bicycle rider or car driver either. As we grow older, we seem to expect to be able to do new things brilliantly the first time we try them. Unless it’s painting by numbers or something equally facile, this doesn’t happen in real life. Each failed attempt is just one more way you’ve learned how not to do something. Learn from your mistakes and build on your successes.
